Make sure to check back and read some of the stories of your fellow battlers. Leave comments to encourage these writers. And go a step further in supporting one another by sharing each other’s stories on your own blog or social media, whatever you’re most comfortable with!

Nice one, Abe. Will hopefully get a chance to read this tomorrow. You can even get a preview of next year’s prompts now, too, as I’ve scheduled them already 😳

Good for you! It’s looking yet again that I won’t get to start reading everybody else’s stories until later 😦 but, well, delayed gratification is good for us…. 😀

Faster than I was lead to believe Roger. Will add it later… also swifter than expected was completing the full schedule for next year… even have the list of words for 2025. Funny what cold snaps do!

Well, hi, folks! It’s been some time. I meant to pop in a while back. And then I blinked, and it’s October! I hope you’re all well.
I look forward to reading your stories for this great prompt (it’s my kind of word). It’s been too long since I’ve delved into your worlds!
Here’s what I put together for ‘catafalque’. I’m rusty because it’s been a while since I’ve written a short story. I’ve set this story in a universe I’ve had in mind for a few weeks.

Good to see you back Joshua. It’s been way too long since we caught up. All good here finally after waiting 2.5 years for a hernia op way back in March. Your kind of word happens to be one of my favourites from a dark era of RPG. Brought back to life recently as I’m exploring a new character. Hoping to read entries over the next few days and will add yours tomorrow.

Good to be back, Gary! I know, time flies ever faster. I’m glad to hear that you’re doing well. Have you fully recovered now, or are you still in the process of healing? I hope surgery has helped!

It took a few months to sort due to a complication but all sorted now and back to doing pub cellars. Not lifting cask beer mind lol. Very relieved it’s done now though. Thanks for remembering after so long too.

I believe I do the same. Just got ahead by starting a couple of weeks ago. Then realised we’re running short of prompts. Fortuitously I have next year’s list already. Just not scheduled on here. Time is a savage beast!

It’s those naughty temporal-pixies. They steal hours out of our days for their own nefarious reasons

In my case, it’s temporal distortions. I’ve been exploring that in a new DS chapter with Arch Mage, Delalande and Cresswell. A case of the present is relative to which point in time you exist in. Our present being someone else past and their present being someone deeper in the future’s past. It’s all fascinating to ponder until your head explodes haha

I was just thinking a short while ago, it’s that first-Friday, Blogbattle thing today, and I’m not ready.
And then I read Catafalque. I am somewhere below “not ready” for that. 🙂

Think Halloween maybe… one of my characters has already found a dark chapel withing which lies a coffin stand 👻

I’m sure something will occur to me eventually…

OK, not exactly Halloween, but here’s mine. I think perhaps my earlier comment should be taken as a warning, not a promise.
