#BlogBattle: Castle

March 2020 Blog Battle

Our word this month is:

You can start writing at any time, but make sure you post your story by the 30th of the month to have your story shared here and on social media.

Once you’ve posted your story to your blog, put a link to it in the comments section, and we’ll add your story to the Battle Stories Line-up post.

Make sure to check back and read some of the stories of your fellow battlers. Leave comments to encourage these writers, and share each other’s stories!

Basic Rules:

The Prompt Word will be given the First Tuesday of Every Month.

Post your story by the 30th of the Same Month.

  1. 1000 words max (give or take a few)
  2. fictional tale (or true if you really want)
  3. Any genre that fits within PG-13 (or less) Content – let’s keep this family friendly!
  4. Your story must contain the randomly chosen word(s) and/or be centered around the word meaning in a way that shows it is clearly related.
  5. Go for the entertainment value!
  6. Put a link back to your #BlogBattle Short Story in the comments section
  7. Please tweet and otherwise share your battler buddies’ stories across social media.
    1. Use the hashtag #BlogBattle when tweeting all the stories so we can cross-share.
  8. Have fun!
Any photos included with the prompt are only for your benefit as a pinch of inspiration. They don’t need to dictate your theme or story genre. Only the Word of the Month counts! Photos are thanks to Snappa.com

  1. Lastminute.com strikes back. Sorry about the lapse Rachael. School closures and exam cancelled, working from home…terrible state of affairs. If you glance at mine there’s a paragraph in bold in the preamble. This is just an idea for a tag event I thought of after my diary extract (also in the preamble). Positive posts and mindfulness.

    I digress,

Mines very much stream of consciousness and written today

    • I totally dropped the ball this last week. I’m sorry. My sister-in-law died in childbirth on Saturday, and I’ve been in a state. I wish I could say that a different way, but blunt is all I’ve got. 😦 Thank you for taking care of adding the stories. I appreciate it! I think that’s a very nice idea. More positive news and thoughts are a good thing, especially at a time like this. ❤

  9. March already? I could’ve sworn that NYE was just last week! 🤔 Finally got around to reading some of the February BB stories today — some really great ones! Looking forward to seeing what this word brings! 🙂

Here’s mine for the month, I have a feeling I’ll be revisiting this twisted little island again at some point in the future — I reckon there’s much more to tell! https://joshuainsole.wordpress.com/short-stories/the-repellers-of-boddi-craig/

      • Ah, I don’t know — there were so many good ones! A. E.’s was great, as was Doug’s. Gary’s was awesome, too. Chris’s tale of artwork gone wrong (or should that be right) was also amazing. Loved all the ones I read, to be honest! So many styles, so many good writers! I really like how much variation there is, truly something for everyone here at the BlogBattle. 🙂

Thanks! I hope you guys like it. I will definitely expand upon this universe in the future (provided the prompt word can be twisted in a way that fits!).

    • This I have just read and have not the time just now to comment properly so I’ll leave that until tomorrow Joshua. This one is certainly showing your writing skills way better now too. Just saying,
