Hello! Welcome to Blog Battle, a weekly writing prompt competition! If you haven’t already, check out the rules (more like instructions on how to participate & have fun).
Winning story for the week will earn this badge! 🙂
Post your story to your blog any time on Tuesday until Midnight PST (there is a grace period into Weds morning, so just let me know if you are late getting it done). Throughout the course of the day, we’ll add the links (to your blog w/story title) here.
This Week’s Story WORD theme: RESOLVED
This week’s Story GENRE style: Tall Tale
STORIES:
The Gold Rush of Eighteen Forty-Ten by David Williamson
Resolved by Teresa “Tess” Karlinski
Charlie the Grasshopper by Julianne Q. Johnson
Resolved by Cathleen Townsend
Of the Flame Keeper’s Tale by Beaton M.
The Shimmering Shoal by Helen Jones
PS If I’m missing your story, just leave me a comment to let me know!
Read all the stories & PLEASE VOTE for your favorite.
(On a personal note I could not think of a single worthwhile Tall Tale. It is crazy, but nothing seemed to work. I started several times and every time it went nowhere. If you felt that, too, don’t give up! Try again for next week! Word: THORN, Genre: FAN FICTION. What book, character, movie, tv show etc are you a fan of? Have fun!)
Click here for the Instructions for Participation!
To find out the next battle info click THEME & GENRE on the main menu
You have until the next Monday at midnight EST (9 PM PST / 5 AM GMT Tues) to read the submitted stories & vote for your top three. Please consider the expert use of the theme word when choosing.

Found it! I don’t know what’s happening, but for the last week comments are being marked as “read” (gray instead of blue) that I’ve never read. So sorry, Cathleen! Thanks for the extra reminder and the sweet attitude. I’ll try to keep a better eye out on these comments.

Today is the refresher of Blog Battles! Come play along. You have time to write a story, and if not, bookmark the battlers page and keep coming back for more stories. I’ll be adding more stories throughout the day today as people submit them. You will be able to read them throughout the next week and vote on your favorite by next Monday. 🙂 So fun! Such talented writers! Such a great community! So many lovely friends! 🙂

You are not late! You have allllll day today to post (and into tomorrow morning because I’m slow sometimes) 🙂 I have no idea why the link doesn’t always work. I do know that WP changed some of the ways that you add the links and that can be a pain. That is probably not what you mean, though. Thank you for coming back to participate, Tess! ❤

I have to make the effort to exercise my writing muscle. The muse is bitchy right now. Ouch.

Oh dear me, I know that feeling. I’ve been stressed lately, and it’s really cutting into my ability to process thoughts that don’t involve keeping my youngest in line or stop me from pulling out my hair. lol

That’s the same place I’ve been the past months. I’m losing the ability. It’s so much harder now, not that I found it easy before. Hang in there, Rachael. You can only do one thing at a time. No one want you to stress yourself to death. ❤ ❤ ❤

Well that was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. No Grant & Teagan, but still a good time. Thanks, Rachael, for taking this on.

Two questions: 1) Do we have the word and genre for the next battle? 2) Is it next week or is it two weeks from now?

Such great questions, and probably things I totally neglected to actually think through to in time! I’ll get right on that, and it’s for next week. If I don’t do it every week I’m afraid I’ll forget things. As it is, my week’s already a crazy mess between my poor puppy’s itchy ears (I think she has mites so we’re treating it like crazy, getting better, but poor thing! 😦 ), the unrelenting snow (my van hates the snow), and my kids having snow days. Well…time has flown by in a whirlwind of crazy. (I might have left off the fact that my kids finally convinced me to play Minecraft with them, and now I’m a Mama Miner. Ugh. haha)

I hope I can get this one done in time. It looks fun. Either way, I’m excited for the beginning of the battles again. 🙂

Me too! I hope I can get it done and excited they are back. haha I haven’t written my yet, but because I need grace, I’ve extended the “grace period” to about 10am on Weds to make it less stress for us all. 🙂 I hope you’re feeling better by degrees!

I don’t know why, but my WP is marking comments as “read” when I haven’t read them yet.
Sorry I missed this! I’ll add it right away. ❤

No worries, Rachael. 🙂 My WP has been playing around a bit as well. Wonder what those Happiness Engineers are up to now…
