Temporary Battle Cancellation

Hey all! So you might have noticed that the blog battle for this week didn’t get posted on Tuesday like it should. And if you haven’t noticed, it’s kind of dwindled down. I haven’t been able to write for it myself!

Time seems to fill up quickly with important things and lots of unimportant things. I certainly get it.

Because it is a busy season, and there are many exciting things going on in the months of November and December, I have decided to suspend Blog Battle TEMPORARILY.

We will resume the FIRST Tuesday of January 2017 and the word will be MELT, so if you wrote a story for that word, you can save it for the date or repost it for us here.

In the mean time, I could use your help. I have for you . . .

QUESTIONS:

  1. What do you like about participating in BlogBattle?
  2. What keeps you from participating in BlogBattle?
  3. What changes would you like to see to the format?BB 2

  1. i do miss participating in BlogBattle, life has just gotten too hectic for me lately. I sure hope things will settle down, and I can get my schedule together so that I can participate regularly again. What I liked most about participating was interacting with other writers, by getting and giving feedback through the comments. It really is a great community, I look forward to it being back up and running and flourishing!!

    • I know the feeling, Carrie Ann! I am hoping we can, at the very least, find ways to connect, even if it doesn’t have to do with writing short fiction. 🙂 It’s great to have a writing community, to not cut yourself off from others, and gain encouragement as well as varied insight. That being said, I’m looking forward to starting Blog Battle up fresh in January!

  2. Hey, Rachael. I know, it’s been a very long time since any of y’all have heard from me.
To my shame, I cannot even blame NaNo for my lapse, for it’s been even longer since I participated in #BB, and for that I apologize. I have looked in on occasion and seen that the submissions have dwindled all around, but that doesn’t make me feel any better for my neglect.
I had made a file for the MELT prompt, and didn’t write in that either.
But, I have started writing again. On FB, there is a “Twisted Princess” anthology being put together, and I’ve been tasked with writing a 20,000 to 40,000 story about, of all people, Rose Red. If you don’t recognize her, she’s Snow White’s sister. Having to do dreaded research, then thinking of how I can “twist” it is a real chore.
There are other things going, I won’t make a blog post on your comment wall, so, if you give me a holler when it’s time to resume, I will do my best to get back in the mix.
Hope your holidays go wonderfully! Be safe, one and all!

    • Thanks exciting, John! I am vaguely familiar with Rose Red, so I’m excited to see what you come up with! Trust me when I say I know how difficult it’s been to participate in BlogBattle with everything going on. I haven’t even been consistent about it the last several months. I’m hoping I’ll be better focused after the end of this year, but we’ll see. I haven’t been sleeping well. Lots of insomnia. It’s making it hard to focus on top of everything else. I’m hoping all your other stuff going on is not anything bad! I’ll be sure to put up a reminder post the week before battle resumes. It’s so good to hear from you. I miss chatting more often!

  3. This is a tough time of year I think. People are participating in NaNo, meeting writing goals, trying to plan for the holidays and the end of the calendar year. I think it’s a good break though I’ll miss it. Looking forward to starting up again in January.

  4. Dang! Sorry, Rachael. I’ve been sucked into NaNoWriMo whenever I have a spare moment. But sometimes breaks are a good idea. I hope to dive back into the battle scene in January.
Grant and Teagan aren’t going to find trouble all on their own!
