I’ve put mine up on Medium again. I only wrote it a week and a half back, plenty of time I thought, and then… life.

LOL I know how life can catch up with you at the weirdest moments! 🙂

Mark, I couldn’t figure out how to comment on Medium while mobile but I loved your piece! I’ve read them all and I think yours was hilarious.

Glad you liked it – responding to prompts either leaves me blank, or having oddball ideas. I’ve got a story on Medium called “Fat Of The Land” which started off as a piece for a live-reading event. I read the prompt – future diseases – had nothing, waited a week, still nothing, another week… then I had a peculiar idea… and people really like that one. No idea why.
Commenting on Medium is weird. It lets you “comment” on individual paragraphs rather than a piece overall, and I’m not sure that comments are publicly visible. I mostly started using it because of Lore Publications who have published some of my shorts/flash fiction. There is the “clap” button which is the equivalent of a “like” except Medium allows multiple claps per item from the same reader. This would be incredibly important if any of my stuff was behind their “paywall”, as it would affect any income. However, all of my stories up there are free, so it doesn’t make much difference.

Ooh, I’ll go check out “Fat of the Land” next!
I made a Medium account specifically so that I could comment on your piece; I saw one from someone else at the end which gave me hope. Alas, all I managed was a clap 😂 I didn’t even realize I could clap more than once! I guess I need to do some more exploring on Medium…
I’m like that with prompts, too. The more I practice the old “just do it” motto, the better I get at coming up with something, at least. But they are inevitably oddballs. I’ve decided to label myself a “slipstream” writer and just let the weird happen 😂
I look forward to reading more of your work! I’ll keep clapping just in case you get to slip behind that paywall one of these days.

And the next challenge… WordPress.
I’m looking at migrating my old Blogger site, but every time I change something, I break something. I would blame the cats, but there hasn’t been a fight across my keyboard in… over six hours.

It could still be the cats. I’m pretty sure they can put The Evil Eye on you in a concentration of pure spite.

Our big fluffy thing is currently snoozing behind the monitor, so probably directing his influence that way.

haha Cats will one day take over the universe. Or so I’ve heard.

haha Yes, let the weird happen. It’s amazing what can come out of that. I mean, look at Stephen King. 😉

I’m reading one of his short story collections right now, and I’m really liking it (I’ve never been a big fan of his novels). “Lawnmower Man” is exactly the kind of bizarro idea I would try to pull off 😂

I shy away from horror most of the time, so I haven’t actually ready any of this books. haha Just hearing people explain them is enough for me. BUT I did watch the new Dark Tower movie…so there is that. 🙂

Good grief, tempus fugit. Miles behind with a full house Rachael. Will be on this ASAP and the Crux posts as soon as normality is restored. Hope you had a good Christmas and even better New Year x

It’s amazing how time flies in the world of life and love and family times! 😉 Glad to hear you’ve been busy but not with anything horrid. Normality…ahhh, if only I knew what that was. lol. I had a good Christmas and new year season. Some changes, but nothing major at this point. 🙂 Hope yours was good!

You’re not kidding! These days I blink and a months disappeared. Still, new year and there’s manuscripts awaiting publishing so I might be chasing you down lol. Christmas was quiet as there’s just four of us left. Lost both my parents some years ago now, my dad on Boxing Day so that obviously holds some memoirs. Everything’s cleared away now though and does the house look immense and echo a lot lol. Normality is a very loose term too. Mines well away from what a councillor once suggested 😂😂

So true, Gary! 🙂 Make the days slow down, please.
Christmas can be such a difficult time of year when it comes to the loss of those we love. I hope you still find plenty of joy and good memories for the season. ❤
I'm excited to see what you're publishing goals are for the year.

It’s why I love the build up more than the actual day. Mind you, I always reflect more on things on both. Christmas and New Years days. Nothing toxic, just about life and people.
Goals I have already, making it so is the work in progress lol. Mind you I’m catching up on neglected chores first. A clear house enables that without folk in the way! Might even blog those goals 🤔

It seems an appropriate time of year to contemplate and reflect. 🙂
I wish you well on you cleaning, decluttering and goal tackling!
